New site new blog. More features and easier navigation and hopefully more contacts. With the help of distant cousins I have been able to break lots of brick walls and help others do the same. I am also a member of Ancestry.ca. You can find my trees under the username jmcfingon.
Why McFingon? The 4th MacKinnon chief gaveĀ the chiefs the Gaelic patronymic of MacFhionghuinn, sons of Fingon of Findanus, which is now the clan descendants surname.
As proud as I am of being a descendant of Highland Scots who settled in Glengarry in the early 1800′s, my tree also includes other branches. Some I have been able to trace back to France. Also included in the database will be unconnected McKinnon trees of Glengarry. Part of the site will be dedicated to them.
The old site and blog will remain until the new site as enough information to make it worth a visit.
Until then, take care
Joanne
